"This album is the best from Destinity! Its not an ordinary black metal album with some symphonic elements, its a well made mixture of symphonic black/death/thrash metal. The riffs are very multifarious and catchy, and nicely mixed with the symphonic elements. The vocals are very good and variable.

"Although there is certainly a great deal more musical variation on Sterling Black Icon – Chapter III – Black But Shining than listeners experienced with the two previous “chapters” laid out by Germans Fragments Of Unbecoming, many will agree that the band is still a bit mired in the habit of worshipping the basic tenets of Swedish death metal, while not bringing very much to the table in the scope of innovation. That said, there are enough entertaining tracks on Sterling Black Icon – Chapter III – Black But Shining to raise the interest of fans, especially in light of the diminutive amount of quality death metal releases to be found in 2006.
Sine the band’s inception in the fall of 2000, Fragments Of Unbecoming has been intent on resurrecting a sound that was much more prevalent in the mid-1990s, these days you can count small numbers of acts that are actually dedicated to such a style and manage to pull it off in a competent fashion. Fortunately, Fragments Of Unbecoming has studied their influences quite well and quite frankly, upon repeated listening of Sterling Black Icon – Chapter III – Black But Shining, it does appear that this quartet of death-dealers is intent upon making music that is more dynamic than many critics might glean upon initial exposure.
Even though the Swedish style is still quite apparent in the band’s, a bit of German thrash also makes its way into the digits of Sterling Black Icon – Chapter III – Black But Shining, most notably the influences of Coroner and Kreator, especially in terms of the technicality of the guitarist’s riffing and overall song structures."

"Funeral Rape - a pornloving threesome of grindfreaks from Italy - adds a nice item to the porngrind underground scene, titled "A chainsaw in the cunt". The cover is a precise visualization of this, with a damn nice, naked chick. Hot! The 21 songs are built on gutripping, sex-infected inspiration, just look at some titles: Autopsy...rape, The cum comes, God is a cock, Bastard Asian eatcum fucker, ... The music is pretty cool too, it's more music and less noise than I expected. The production is perfect for this type of music: not too studio-polished, but luckily not too vague; the songs have that raw grindsound but it still listens fluently enough. Also, lots of easy-going, catchy riffs (both guitar and drum) can be heard. Not to forget, they use a lot of fun samples between the songs! All in all, a quite nice CD, stuffed with cool music to listen to."

"ATAKHAMA as a band rose from ashes of FUNERIS NOCTURNUM in the year 2004. It comes as no surprise that the musicians played in another band previous to this one because the playing skills displayed on “Existence Indifferent” are nothing but top notch. Right from the start the band sets an unrelenting pace that nearly ever lets up; a band that comes to mind is DEFLESHED. I also hear small hints of BEHEMOTH here and there but DEFLESHED comes to mind far more often. I guess they aren’t miles away from FUNERIS NOCTURNUM either but I can’t validate that because I’m unfamiliar with the band.

This is not an album for all the old school maniacs out there as the sound quality on “Existence Indifferent” is clean, though in my ears it sounds very good. On the other hand, if you like modern Extreme Metal this should be right up your ass, or was it alley? The vocalist has a great range of vocals that shifts from deep death grunts to shrieking black vocals; a real talent there. The guitarists aren’t any worse as they really have something to work on here. Ultra fast riffs are played all over the place making you a real fruit cake if you find the riff department to be a bore. The music contains the occasional break but for the most part the music riffs away at blistering speed. One of the things that impress me is the way the band goes from Black to Death Metal riffs, they do it with ease. The drummer must not be forgotten either as he easily equals the quality of his friends. He shifts from fast to slow seamlessly and even throws in some fills just to top his performance. All in all the dynamics of this band is impressive.

“Existence Indifferent” is a very homogeneous record in that respect that none of the songs deride much from each other. At times it can be a bit too hard to hear any real difference between the songs; fortunately they are of such quality that the album is enjoyable nonetheless. If I had a saying in the recording process of “Existence Indifferent” I would have suggests throwing in some more guitar solos. Being a chaos head I would like them to be of the chaotic kind. The solos that are present are very good and I would like to hear more of those. I would like to add that I’m a big fan of ugly SLAYER alike solos."

Does "party-goregrind" sound dumb? Well maybe. But this album kicks alot of ass, no matter how you call it. It's less brutal than the previous SCD releases, but their new style is also extremely good. It has lots of grooviness, varied vocal styles, very catchy riffs, and lots of crazy moshable songs. No lyrics here, that's something I like in SCD, they use the vox as an instrument. And anyway, who'd give a fuck about gory lyrics when you're drunk and prolly don't remember them to sing along anyway? Just grab a beer or ten and go euuuurrrgh with the new SCD, it's gonna be great.

"There are those albums that are always hard to find in a genre of metal that really stick out. There are a lot of albums that I really enjoy, but rarely have I found them unique enough to listen to them beyond once every few weeks. This album is completely different. I had found this gem before I had ever grown a taste in symphonic metal, and always found it nothing more than great. After listening to it for the fifth time recently, I decided to review it. My opinions on the album have completely changed since I first put it threw my speakers.
First off, this is different from the other Eternal Tears of Sorrow albums. If you’ve listened too Chaotic Beauty or A Virgin and a Whore, you’ll know that the sound is rather different. This album has hints of gothic metal in it, something that the other albums don’t. Guitar work is cleaner as opposed to the other 2 albums before this. On the most part, Gothenburg riffs are present mixed in with the odd few gothic metal riffs. Take notice on this, as it really helps the overall sound that they put into this album quite successful. It’s also a bit slower than their older albums, but also much better in terms of solos and riffs.
Atmosphere wise, you’re getting the same Eternal Tears of Sorrow. The sound may have changed; however, they maintain every atmospheric element from before. The way they deliver though on this one, is through the symphonic elements. Unlike the other older material, the keyboards really drive the sound they obtained on Before the Bleeding Sun rather than it being the guitars. Perfect examples are during “Another Me” and “Sinister Rain”. However, just because the keyboards are most present doesn’t mean you can’t hear every instrument. Everything is easily heard, with a very well done production summing up to excellent sound and atmosphere. If you want melancholy, this is the album for you.
If you enjoy Skyfire, you owe it to yourself to check this release out. If you happen to be a gothic metal fan, I’d strongly recommend this to you. It’s perfect, having a really nice flow that no other band has really put out for the genre."

"Eternal Tears Of Sorrow. The face of melodic death metal. This is their latest release "A Virgin And A Whore". What can I say about it? It's just as great as the rest of their albums. They truly keep up their good reputation that they got after "Chaotic Beauty". ETOS has become legends on the metal scene. There is not one true metalhead that doesn't know about them. Their soft and cozy death metal is just great.
On the last album "Chaotic Beauty" we got to hear a lot of keyboards in the music. This continues on this CD. The opening track "Aurora Borealis" holds a great standard with fast and super melodic keyboards. It almost made me lose my control when I first heard it. But not all songs are filled with hysteric keyboards. The song "Blood and hatred" holds no melodic keyboards at all. It's a great song based on true guitar fondleing."
