Envy is one of the foremost dominant hardcore/screamo bands in Japan. This status has been forged through the past eleven years with a consistently evolving sound. The result can be described as a passionately epic journey through brutal intensity and serene beauty, a dichotomy that many bands in the genre attempt. Densely layered guitars supported by a steady bass overwhelm in their energy where they do not release in their quiet, intricate elegence. Expert drumming further solidifies Envy's sound with patient, yet sometimes wonderfully skillful beats. The vocals follow a similar pattern of larynx-shredding power matched with softly-uttered lyrics, and are entirely in Japanese, yet the desperation and emotion is easily communicated despite the language barrier.
